About this program

Every child and young person is unique. Our counselling approach is tailored to each child’s needs, interests, learning style and stage of development.

Our experienced therapists use a range of age-appropriate, trauma-informed techniques, which may include:

  • Talking and individual counselling

  • Creative and play-based approaches (such as art, music, puppets and sand tray)

  • Group work (where appropriate)

  • Storytelling, drama and writing

The goal is to help children feel safe, understood and supported, while giving them space to process their experiences at their own pace.

How we support children and families

We take a whole-of-family approach, recognising that sexual abuse or harmful sexualised behaviours can affect the entire family.

Parents and carers play a vital role in a child’s healing. We support families by:

  • Helping them understand what has happened and how it may be affecting their child

  • Offering guidance on how to respond with care, safety and confidence

  • Strengthening family relationships and support networks

Our focus is on healing, safety and long-term wellbeing for both children and their families.

Benefits of counselling

Our counselling service provides children and young people with a safe, supportive space to explore their experiences and emotions.

Through therapeutic support, children and families can:

  • Better understand and process difficult experiences

  • Build emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Strengthen feelings of safety and trust

  • Support positive development now and into the future

SACPP is an evidence-based program, informed by best practice and delivered by specialist clinicians.
